Sorry, I should have posted or linked the followup here. Yes, the technique is similar, but more tailored to napping and to getting it down in just a few days rather than over a long period of time (since people adjusting to polyphase don't want to wait, usually).

For myself, it helped a little, but I freely admit that I abandoned this idea way early -- or rather, put it on hiatus. Turns out you NEED some place to yourself that you can practice this, preferably several times a day for several days. And I have NOTHING for privacy, as I've discussed elsewhere. Seriously, I don't have a bedroom or even my own bathroom (I share one with five other people). With my husband and toddler and I living in about 650 sq. feet with no doors, there's just no time, day or night, that I can do this exercise. It still sounds like a good idea to me, but it'd on hold until I buy that house I'm hunting. ;)

Thanks for the reminder!

No Followup? Is the technique similar to the one outlined on http://www.stevepavlina.com/blog/2006/04/how-to-get-up-right-away-when-your-alarm-goes-off/
