Polyphasic Articles Aspire to “Not Half Bad”
Thanks to ’stine, who drew my attention to a new article on Polyphasic sleep over at the Wired How-To Wiki. (It’s called "How to Cheat on the Need to Sleep", which I’m not sure is a good way to look at polyphase…it’s a trade-off more than a cheat. I mean, yes, sleeping less is great, but anybody who does polyphase would have to agree that it’s more work than just crashing out at night, yeah?)
Anyway, the article is a bit sparse, and it didn’t make me stand up and clap or anything, BUT notably, it doesn’t seem to be factually wrong or wildly exaggerated in any fashion, and I’m terribly happy with that, especially in contrast with the exposure polyphasic sleep has seen before. ::coughWozniakcough::
Plus, it has this graphic, which in context is a little silly, but out of context I think it’s bloody hilarious, so yay!
drink the hemlock…chill for a while…it takes about 15 minutes to work

Actually because of that article on wired, I found your site thru further research on wikipedia and am interested in your findings! I’ll be reading more for sure, I find it a fascinating activity, I always wished I could sleep less as there’s so much to do in this life!
Welcome, Jesse! You express perfectly why I love my schedule…there’s so much to do, and you never know how many days are left to do it in–! Not a day goes by that I don’t remember that I owe my sleep schedule for the taiji classes, piano practice, writing time, art projects, and even video games that I would never have been able to get to before, with a 9-5 job and a toddler and school. Most people in my position “live on the weekends”, and I stay permanently grateful that I don’t have to do it (anymore — I used to, of course).
