Sometimes Silly Names Come Back To Bite You

Yeah, haha, "Sickophasic."

Only that’s just what I appear to be doing.

I tried to pull off monophase, but being ill, I couldn’t stay awake a whole day, and as I mentioned, I kept sleeping at roughly the "right" times, even though the durations were way off.  And when I went back to work this week, I decided to keep getting up at four (well, it’s morphed into 4:30 over the last couple months — sometimes it’s four, but more often it’s "before 4:30") because I hate feeling rushed, especially when I also feel icky in general.

Thing is, I can’t nap at work — this stupid lingering cough makes it take better than 20 minutes just to fall asleep, so no chance of a daytime nap, really.  Yesterday I decided that, since I was well enough to work otherwise, I’d compensate by snagging a 1.5 hour nap before work, and then another one in the evening.  So, 1-4, 6-7:30, and 8:30-10.  Messy!  But it worked…basically.  I didn’t get very tired during the day, but I waited too long for that last one, and waking up from it was a bear.

Got up okay this morning, though.  Still coughing, so I decided to "stay sickophasic" and took that 1.5-hour morning nap again.  Like yesterday, I felt great after that — we’ll see if I can last all day without a nap again.  I’ll probably miss Taiji again today because I still sound like a snotmonster and am not really in any shape for concentrated breathing-exercises…so I’ll try to take an evening nap…maybe 45 minutes rather than 1.5 hours…earlier this time, around 7 if possible.

I’m actually trying to get extra sleep here so I can finish kicking this bug, but since I just don’t get tired before 1 a.m. and seem to wake up easily at 4(:30-ish), that’s actually proving difficult!  It’ll be interesting to see if I can work back into my old schedule by gradually curbing the length of the morning and evening naps, and re-introducing the afternoon one as soon as I can fall asleep easily again.

This is weird, yo.  But I guess I can’t question what works — I’m not tired, and though this is a bug that’s known to linger, I seem to be overcoming it pretty steadily.

ODD.  But then again, if odd upset me, I’d have a whole different set of hobbies, now, wouldn’t I?
