Polyphasic Sleep and Better Thinking

On the upside, quantum paradoxes!

…On the downside, I recovered from a cold just in time to hurt my back, in one of those totally annoying ways that, like an F5 tornado, manages to completely wreck some parts of your life while mysteriously leaving the parts right next door whole and standing.  I’m still getting my naps regularly, but whether I sleep or not is a dice-roll, as is whether I can do any of the activities I so doggedly insist on staying awake for.

Argh.

In better, far more interesting news, Look!  The Observer gives a finger to the Observed as scientists figure out “weak measurement” — a way of observing particles without (they say) messing with the movements or properties of the particles by doing so.  This allowed the “spooky action at a distance” that Einstein was so un-fond-of to finally be witnessed, rather than inferred from the math.  ooOOOEEEEEOOOO.

That’s right, that’s my good news for today.  I suppose I could be happy about the new government foreclosure assistance program guidelines being released, especially since it’s the first such program that might actually do something for people, but unfortunately as a direct result of said program my phone has been hanging in the air all day, suspended there by the force of its constant ringing.

And if you didn’t know, I hate phones.  So now I’m in pain and feeling almost serial-killer levels of antisociality.

Aren’t you glad you only know me over the ‘Net???!

Oh, okay, okay.  I’m sorry I was mean.  Here, have a picture I like:
