Draft Application for the Ubersleepstudy
So, still thinking about this study, and still haven't talked myself out of it! I've written what I think will be the application, which has also helped me better conceptualize the structure of the experiment.
If you'd like to see, comment on, or fill out the application, you can, through the magic of Google, do so here.
For those not Googlified to that degree, a copy is also available upon request by email or by dropping a comment here. Specify what format you'd like it in, please. (PDF, Word, whatever; take your best shot. ;)
Please feel free to disseminate to anyone you think may be interested — I'm not officially opening the application period yet, but I think I will soon, once I've made a more final decision to go through with it; and then I'll specify a date for closing the application period, too. But I'll accept applications anytime, and if I make any changes to this application, I'll just get additional information as needed from anyone who applied early.
EXCITING STUFF.

I read through the application, and I cannot help but get excited about the wealth of information to come from this. I will be 18 years old in 2013, so I believe I could possibly participate- I will fill out a form and send it in.
I do have a suggestion, though. What if, in addition to this study, you do a less formal study in which you get people from all over the world to embark on a polyphasic schedule at the same time, and they all submit daily logs to a website. Though the information might not be as specific, having so many accounts of polyphasic adaptation could be quite beneficial.
Looks awesome. I'm pretty sure I won't be able to participate directly, but I think I'd like to fill out an application anyway. It feels like, if nothing else, it will be educational to write answers to all those questions. How do you want us to fill out the application? I guess I can copy the google doc, edit it and share it with you?
Chad — sharing the google doc is fine; others have done it that way already. You can also send me an email, if that's easier. Thanks for being willing to fill one out!
Juanito — Thanks, and you're not the first person to make that suggestion. I'll be considering ways to open either this experiment, or future ones, so that participation and data-gathering can be done on a wider scale. I've seen this attempted and not work very well, though, so it'll have to be done carefully. ::puts thinking hat on::
Thanks!

I'm unable to follow the link. I try to, but my the browser window just sits there thinking (for hours). What am I doing wrong?
I am excited for this study already! Sadly I am unable to participate in person myself.
I have just started on a biphasic sleep schedule myself (and planing to work myself up to 3h everyman in incraments).
I am posting my results and comments on how it is doing it this way on youtube, As there seems to be very few who have tried doing it this way (or it might be that it has been shown to be a harder way, although I have read no information claiming that it necessarily should be) I hope that I can bring some insights to by posting how it works for me, and just as much I hope that it will help spread knowledge about polyphasic sleep.
What nformation should I add to my video log (this could be a good thing for more people in my situation to know if they want to do the same) in order to make it as helpful as possible?
